Rooted Thoughts

The 12th Month

Nov 25 2012 | 0 comments

December is next week!?!?

Where has 2012 gone?!

I hope for all of you, it has gone into great hikes, fantastic adventures, good runs, meaningful challenges and great meals shared with folks you care about.

Heading into the winter holidays and season, it's helpful to take time to reflect before the Christmas music takes over, the winter gear gets bundled on for heading outdoors and the various celebrations in December get put on the calendar. This season of darkness, shorter days and longer nights, is a great time to reflect on our health, physical, mental and spiritual.  We were given a year to do with as we chose and as we stand at the doorway of year's end, it is a good time to be sure we hit the goals set forward for 2012 - maybe eating healthier, taking better care of ourselves, reaching out to others, running a 5k - and see this year's 12th month as our chance to reach our goals. Any steps toward your goals are a step in the right direction.

One Rooted Radiance goal has been to expand what we offer our customers this year. With our Stella Marie Soaps and Trillium Organics products, we've managed to do just that.

Additionally, behind the scenes, we have been working to increase our RR line of products and those items will be coming out throughout 2013. Just as we have set our goals, not all of them easy to achieve, we hope that your goals for 2012 are still on your radar and are on their way to fruition.

Here's to a fantastic and healthy 12th month!!

Cheers,

Liana

As we here at Rooted Radiance gear up our process of bringing you more Rooted Radiance brand products, the priority of having them in glass as opposed to plastic has been very real and we are looking forward to unveiling some products in beautiful glass jars during the summer.

While you're waiting for our products in glass, be sure to think about the plastics you are using and start reducing your plastic footprint. Even if it just one bottle per month, that's a great start.

Am sharing a great post from FeelGood Style challenging you to 30 days plastic-free in your bathroom. Frankly, it may be difficult, but it will be a great experience to figure out what you can and can't live without and how you can make positive changes to reduce your impact on the environment.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Growing Roots

Oct 12 2010 | 0 comments

Things have been quiet at the Rooted Thoughts blog because a lot of planning and improvement has been going on behind the scenes. Where to take the company and how to continue to deliver beautiful products that are good for women's health and their values has been foremost on my mind.

I go back to the roots of the concept in which it was clear that women needed more options of places to shop for their personal care products. I wanted to create a place that respected women's bodies as well as their beauty.

In the coming weeks you'll hear more about what Rooted Radiance is up to in helping to get you healthy beauty products and making the site more user-friendly and informative.

We look forward to adding some new products and finding more ways to help you learn about beneficial ingredients, healthy products, healthy habits and ways to tap into your natural beauty.

There's no time like the present for healthy choices. We look forward to being involved in helping you make some.

Happy October!!

During October, as we observe Breast Cancer  Awareness Month, we'll be providing links to information sources that can help you feel able to help yourself or others in your community.

Breast Cancer has a complex combination of contributing factors, which none of us can entirely control. But, as with any health issue, the more you know, the more you can feel able to manage what happens. Information is helpful for us as patients, as caregivers, as family members, neighbors and friends.

Rooted Radiance is committed to women's health and supporting the ways that women can feel healthy and live fulfilling lives. Information is a part of the set of tools for building a healthy life.

For the ways that we can take steps to prevent breast cancer and other forms of cancer, the Breast Cancer Fund has some great information for helping to understand the links between environmental exposures and the disease.

Although we appreciate that the first prevention tip is Choose Safe Cosmetics, the reality is that making conscientious choices about your home environment and your nutrition are critical to staying healthy so that your defenses are strong against the disease.

Check out the Breast Cancer Fund's information, which is straightforward and easy to use. Share the information this month and show your commitment to women's health - your own and someone you love.

When our communities know more, we can be prepared to prevent the disease and get early treatment, which is the key to a good outcome.

Good post from Feel Good Style -

As we more and more have natural and organic options, so that we can limit our exposure to toxic substances that could weaken our immune systems or cause us to have illnesses, rashes or other symptoms - it is great to have a growing body of products to choose from that are safe.

The products that we use on our skin are absorbed into our bloodstream and can affect all systems of the body, if they are harmful, or if they are beneficial. Choosing products that are beneficial or which do not cause harm can promote health and support your healthy lifestyle.

Already the summer feels like it's starting to change. My tomatoes are coming in daily, the nights are getting cooler and the light is shifting ever so slightly.

Grateful for a fantastic summer, with real summer days and nights, as opposed to the monsoons we experienced in Rhode Island during the summer of '09. There's been great time for fun on Narragansett Bay, biking, swimming and exploring.

Visited the Yacht Club soda factory in North Providence yesterday with my kids and saw soda being made and bottled - glass bottles, real sugar and great flavors. I got a chance to try their Peach Seltzer freshly made - perfect refreshment for a hot day. The guys there were fun to talk to about the sodas and the way things change. I'm glad they've kept so much the same.

The explorations of summer have also been great including repeated visits to our favorite ice cream shop, Riverside Creamery. This week's a great time to take a few minutes to enjoy the season before the days start to feel in short supply and the buzz of school arrives on the wind.

The new Rooted Radiance website is under construction and should be ready by the end of the week. Thanks for your patience while we get through this transition from one site that was beautiful but unwieldy, to a site that will be beautiful and easier for our team to manage. The site will be up and running, taking orders in the next couple of days, but the final coats of paint will be added over the next month.

Be sure to enjoy the fruits and vegetables of the season while they are abundant and require little cooking - and have a healthy week.

Any questions or needs for special orders, please don't hesitate to call 401 486 2620 or email rootedradiance@gmail.com

All the best -

Summer Healthy

Jul 28 2010 | 0 comments

Thanks to customers of Rooted Radiance for keeping us going through the website changes - please feel free to keep checking back in while the updates occur.

Summer's been fantastic and hot here in New England. There's been a plethora of local produce available at our Farmers' Markets here and lots of chances for pick-your-own berries. Nothing like enjoying the abundance during these beautiful days. Makes it much easier to make healthy choices when there are juicy raspberries and blackberries for the taking.

My garden's been making it a good summer as well. After summer 2009's experience of a slow growth yard due to all the rain we had it feels great to go out every day to ripened cukes and tomatoes.

Eating healthy really is easier during the summer. Now we're working on putting some of the excess away, planning to make pickles later this week and freeze some of the veggies so that on those cold days in January we can pull out our locally grown greens.

Summer also makes it easy to be active and healthy with walks, jogs, bike rides and paddling while the weather's agreeable. Skin care is a little more challenging, because you need sun protection, moisturizers, and products that will hold up to heat and humidity.

As the new site gets developed, more new products will be added to help you make healthy choices and learn about how to make healthy choices going forward.

Thanks for stopping by and check back in again soon.

Liana
